The Pigeon Mission is a warm and humorous family film about the power of family, perseverance, and how even the smallest gesture—like a note tied to the leg of a homing pigeon—can change lives.
After moving to a small village, 14-year-old Fenna discovers a hidden world of homing pigeons and long-forgotten memories through her lonely grandfather, Henk. What begins as a moment of curiosity soon grows into a heartfelt mission to restore joy to Henk’s life, as he has been quietly mourning the loss of his wife, Toos, for many years.
When Fenna learns that her father, Bob, has been estranged from Henk since his mother’s passing, she decides to take matters into her own hands. Together with her friend Kyra, Fenna devises an unusual plan: by using homing pigeons—a tradition that once made Henk a respected figure in the village—they hope to heal old wounds and reunite him with his lost childhood love, Floortje.
But their plan spirals out of control when Fenna and Kyra accidentally end up inside a truck full of pigeons, heading to a competition in Spain. As Henk and Bob find their way back to each other through unexpected paths, Fenna risks everything—not only to mend her grandfather’s broken heart, but also to bring the magic of the past back to life.
