With Mister Twister moving house and Tobias’s mother meeting a nice man, a lot is changing for Tobias. While Dreus is organising a big treasure hunt and the class works on a great robot project, Tobias and Mr Casey learn that change is not always bad! Sometimes it can even be fun.
Tobias is happy, because Mr Casey has come up with a science project. The whole class is going to make robots together! He and Sep are making a stick-throwing robot for Harley. Tom is making a Maths-robot and Fred a bashing-robot. Ms Dreus thinks the robots are very inconvenient. She is making preparations for the annual Human Treasure Hunt, which Mr Casey has to take part in. If he gets through the auditions, of course. Only the best actors can take part in this game of hunt-the-teachers, which Dreus is giving a medieval twist this year. It has to be good, because the entire village is joining in. Mr Casey doesn’t have a lot of time to spend on it. He has more pressing worries: his mother wants him to move out! Meanwhile, Tobias finds out that his mother has met someone. That feels weird. Won’t she forget his Dad?
When Tobias wants to talk to Mr Casey about his worries, he finds out that he is about to move house. Tobias is very worried about this too, but luckily the new place is very close by. Mr Casey is moving to the other side of the street. What a relief! But not for Mr Casey… He is worried about Marie Louise coming for dinner when he lives by himself. He can’t cook! The class promises to help him, and they briefly pause their robot project to give Mister Twister cooking lessons. This rubs Ms Dreus up the wrong way, as she feels Mr Casey is not taking her treasure hunt seriously. He must prove his commitment by doing an audition.
Suddenly, Mr Casey is extremely busy. Teaching, audition, the robots and moving house. If only he had people to help him. The class step up. The next day, everyone is in high spirits as they help him move. The kids lug boxes, roll suitcases along and balance a mattress on their heads. It is a great day out and Mr Casey is enjoying himself as well – although he is a bit worried about missing Harley and about Marie Louise coming for dinner that evening. When Tobias arrives home feeling cheerful, he discovers that Philip, the man his mother is seeing, has come over. It feels weird and Tobias is not being very kind. That evening, everyone is in a dark mood. Mr Casey has burned the food for Marie Louise and now he is on his own in his new place. Tobias is anxious about the future.
The next day is the great Human Treasure Hunt for the lower school. Mr Casey is not allowed to take part because he did not get through the audition, so he has to teach as normal. Once Dreus realises that her ridiculously high standards mean nobody got through the audition and now she has to do the whole medieval-themed treasure hunt on her own, she starts to panic. She enlists Mister Twister and Mr Hank’s help, and between the three of them they have a mad rush with crazy costume changes to make sure they cover all the check points in time and in character. Because of all the panic, Mr Hank ends up riding his bike into the canal dressed as a medieval knight in armour and Dreus accidentally locks herself into the bridge keeper’s house. Mister Twister is on his own. Thankfully, Class 6B are always there for him!
6B are happy to help with the Human Treasure Hunt, but they don’t want to wear Dreus’s medieval dressing up clothes. Instead, they bring their home-made robots along. While Dreus can only watch through her binoculars, Mr Casey organises the best treasure hunt in years. The children’s robots look cheerful, exciting and colourful. It is a roaring success. Once Dreus has been released and Mr Hank has had a chance to dry off, it is time for Mr Casey’s housewarming party. Everyone is invited. Tobias even invites Philip. Change can be scary, but it is not always bad. And Mr Casey… he is baking tasty snacks in the kitchen of his new house. Marie Louise tastes them and thinks they are delicious. She gives him a kiss and the children squeal with glee!
