International sales agent Incredible Film has secured international distribution rights to Amsterdamned II,the sequel to Dick Maas’s chilling 1988 cult classic, Amsterdamned. Three decades after the original film, the sequel returns to the famed Dutch canals, which once again become a crime scene when a series of new murders take place in the city.
Veteran Dutch actor Huub Stapel reprises his role as Detective Eric Visser, who once relentlessly pursued a serial killer through the Dutch canals three decades ago, as he is jolted back from retirement by a revelation that shakes him to his core: new DNA evidence which proves the innocence of the man he believed to be the culprit.
With a wave of new murders, more gruesome and unsettling than before and bearing the unmistakable mark of the killer famed for his crimes in the 80’s, it soon becomes apparent that this killer may be more than human, wielding unearthly powers that defy explanation. Eric and fellow detective Tara Lee must summon all their courage and ingenuity in their fight against an evil that threatens them and the city of Amsterdam.
The long-awaited, electrifying sequel, Amsterdamned II is directed by acclaimed Dutch director Dick Maas, who directed the original Amsterdamned and box-office hit Prey (Prooi). Amsterdamned II will take audiences on adrenaline-fuelled rollercoaster through the blood-soaked Amsterdam canals, in search of the most gruesome killer the city has ever seen.
The film is a coproduction from the Netherlands’ 2CFILM and Parachute Pictures and Belgium’s Potemkino. Production is set to begin later this year, with release scheduled for 2025, in time for the City of Amsterdam’s 750th anniversary.
