When one of Dilara’s friends is murdered, she returns to her hometown. She starts to suspect that the infamous village idiot, Jim, is out to exact revenge on her group of friends. A true crime podcast comes out featuring Jimmy’s voice: the longer you listen to it, the greater the risk that he will come after you. When there is another murder at a rave, Dilara is certain that she is next.
The atmosphere in Jimmy is masterful. All the murders take place at neon-lit, highly stylised locations. This creates a seedy but glamorous vibe, cleverly marrying humour with fear. The cocaine-in-her-dixie feeling smoothly introduces nineties slasher-horror to the internet generation.
