The North (2025)

What is it like to hike 400 miles with your oldest friend? The North is a fiction film following Lluis and Chris as they hike the West Highland Way and the Cape Wrath Trail. Walk alongside them through Scottish rain, midges, mountains, and the vast soundscapes of the Highlands.

Produced by Tuesday Studio while hiking almost 400 miles and directed by Bart Schrijver (Human Nature), The North takes place a decade after Chris (Bart Harder) and Lluis (Carles Pulido) became best friends. Following the West Highland way and The Cape Wrath Trail, they spend 30 days together in nature – hoping to rekindle their once-powerful friendship.

But while Chris remains preoccupied with work and life back at home, Lluis is determined to finish the trail to prove he can do it. The solitude and silence of the Highlands forces them to confront harsh truths about themselves, their friendship, and what it truly means to stand still and listen.

Set against the pace and demands of long-distance hiking, The North depicts the intricacies and challenges of both friendship and internal human struggles against the backdrop of the beautifully stark Highlands’ wilderness.

Alongside the fiction film The North, we have also created a documentary: True North. In this documentary we follow the crew as they embark on this grand journey. Making a film is already very hard in normal conditions. Making a film while also hiking 300+ kilometers, sleeping in a tent every night, carrying 30+ kilos on your back up a mountain, that is a different challenge altogether.
